At present, the school has authorized the master's degree of computer science and technology. The computer science and technology discipline began to recruit undergraduate students majoring in computer science and technology in 1996.
The Computer Science and Technology discipline is dedicated to the theoretical, methodological, and technical research of computers and related information science and technology. It is particularly distinctive in its use of modern computer technology to transform traditional transportation through intelligent traffic information processing, rail transit communication, and the analysis of big data in intelligent transportation. It also plays a significant role in promoting the upgrading and transformation of traditional industries through modern computer technology, such as computer control and fault diagnosis, both domestically and internationally.
The academic field obtained a master's degree program in Computer Application Technology in 2006 and a first-level academic degree master's program in Computer Science and Technology in 2010. In 2015, it was rated as a key discipline in Chongqing for the "13th Five-Year Plan". The fifth-round discipline assessment result was C-. It is an important base for scientific research in transportation information technology and the cultivation of compound innovative talents in transportation information in Chongqing. The discipline possesses two provincial and ministerial platforms, "Chongqing Key Laboratory of Public Transportation Big Data" and "Chongqing Engineering Research Center for Public Transportation Operation Big Data", as well as multiple school and school-enterprise joint laboratories such as "Chongqing Jiaotong University Intelligent Transportation Big Data Center", "Joint Laboratory for Reliable Control and Safety Maintenance of Data-Driven Dynamic Systems", and "Meteorological Traffic Big Data Joint Laboratory", with a total area of over 4000 square meters. The discipline intersects with other disciplines such as transportation engineering, bridge and tunnel engineering, management science and engineering, systems science, and road and railway engineering. It closely integrates with engineering practice, researching, discovering, and solving technical problems and significant or major theoretical issues in engineering.
The discipline has a high-level faculty team, including talents such as Chongqing discipline and technology leaders, transportation industry scientific and technological innovation leaders, Chongqing scientific and technological innovation leaders, Chongqing talent innovation and entrepreneurship leaders, Chongqing Yuzhu Scholars Distinguished Professors, and Chongqing overseas intelligence program Distinguished Professors. The team has a reasonable structure in terms of age and title, with strong innovation awareness and capabilities. Teachers in this field have undertaken more than 50 various projects in the past five years, such as the National Natural Science Foundation projects and national defense technology foundation research projects. They have received more than 10 scientific and technological awards, including the National Science and Technology Progress二等奖 and provincial and ministerial-level and industry-level first, second, and third prizes. They have been granted more than 40 invention patents, with the industrialization of multiple patents.
Graduates mainly engage in teaching, scientific research and development, and engineering applications in colleges, scientific research institutions, and related enterprises and institutions.
